An urban book of poetry from the authors perspective of living in Farragut Projects located in Brooklyn, NYC. Hear about the author's friends, family and community through poetry, photographs and literary dialogue. Wonderful book, inspiring, educational and often funny. The book A Brooklyn Project is a representation of my experience there from 1962 to 1985. This author's poetic vision of the events and people are through the eyes of a child, teenager and adult. This book of urban poetry is culturally moving. She captures the essence of the neighborhood, it’s shops, churches, schools and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The Farragut houses are a cultural icon and is the focal point of the work. It’s multi- cultural influence is a marvel from their block parties, community center marching bands, leisure time and Old Timers Day. Today you can Google Farragut Houses and on Facebook with over 900 members strong. Blogs with an array comments by community members post daily in remembrance and recognition of the neighborhood. Every year they still get together for Old Timers Day to celebrate with the new community tenants and reunite with the old, usually at Commodore Barry Park (City Park) or a Block Party on Sands Street from the Brooklyn Navy Yard on Navy Street to Gold Street.
